Trained as an architect, Elizabeth Casqueiro is attuned to the way
cities and buildings carry the weight of memory, identity,
and emotion—silent witnesses to who we are and
what we hope to become.
Guided by a humanist spirit, she believes we move forward
by navigating binaries and contradictions, by tolerating
and entering into debate.
In this site-specific response, Elizabeth Casqueiro
weaves film, sound, and painting into a
layered reflection on a polarized America.
Through the lens of Washington’s monumental
architecture, she exposes the tensions between
order and dissent, control and aspiration — inviting us
to consider the fragile, potent threads that
still bind us across our divides.
Visitors to the exhibition are invited to enjoy and reflect on
the short film Crossrepeat, the soundscape collaboration Citimusak,
and a series of double-sided panels inspired by six highly symbolic buildings.
