Shape and Story, Jackson Art Center Artist Tim Carrington shares how his Career in Journalism informs his Art

April 16, 2023

Tim Carrington, a Washington DC based journalist and artist, discussed with host Phil Linder his approach to oil painting and his lifetime involvement in both art and journalism.  His paintings suggest a story of human drama brought to life through vidid color, design, and a distinct style informed by years of international travel.

Carrington, who wrote for McGraw Hill Publications, The Wall Street Journal, and now regularly contributes to The Rappahannock News in Washington, Virginia. He often starts with a photograph that suggests a mood, an aspiration, or a surprising collision of cultures. Every painting begins with the recognition of some sort of drama in the air that is captured colorfully on canvas.
